Metcalfe Fair has always been a strong supporter of 4-H. Many of the fair directors were 4-H members themselves, and several went on to become 4-H leaders.
This year, the Vernon 4-H Dairy Club held their Achievement Day on Thursday at metcalfe Fair. On Friday, Metcalfe Fair hosts the Carleton 4-H Achievement Day and Championship Show.
On Saturday, it hosts the 4-H Regional Championship Show, a competition between the top 4h'ers of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The 4-H Regional Horse Show is held on Sunday.
On Saturday evening, an auction is held to sell the top lambs and steers of the Regional show. The 4-H members donate a portion of the proceeds from this auction to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and the cheque is presented by 4-H members on the CHEO Telethon in June. |
