| On behalf of my colleagues on City Council and the 877,000 residents of Ottawa, it gives me great pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to all the exhibitors participating in the 151st annual Metcalfe Fair, taking place in the nation’s capital from September 27th to 30th 2007.
Fair-goers of all ages will be sure to enjoy a visit to the numerous livestock on display, and be entertained by the midway as well as a host of other fascinating and fun exhibits in this year’s program. Allow me to thank all the entrants in the various competitions for their participation and in recognition of their preparatory work. A special commendation to this year’s prize winners in all categories. I want also to take this opportunity to congratulate the Metcalfe Agricultural Society, the 2007 President Chris Reaney, Family Division President Andrea Taylor and all those, who have dedicated their time, efforts, talents and resources to the successful organization of this much awaited annual agricultural exhibition, celebrating 151 years of rural life. As Mayor of the host city and in celebration of the Fair’s 151st birthday, I invite visitors to explore the numerous civic as well as national treasures and historic sites, which Canada’s capital has to offer. I look forward to viewing your exhibit and joining in the celebrations this coming autumn. Sincerely, Larry O’Brien Mayor City of Ottawa |
