Daphne's Dream Dinner Theatre
Saturday, April 1, 2006
After dinner, The Scene Around Players presented "Consolation", a one act comedy by Charles George, presented by permission of Samuel French Inc.

The setting is Mrs. Andrews' hospital room in the 1940's. Mrs Andrews, on the verge of a nervous breakdown, has been hospitalized by her doctor so she can achieve complete rest and proper diet - none of which she gets.  A series of inept nurses and well-meaning visitors offer consolation in the form of conversation composed chiefly of who has died of ailments similar to Mrs Andrews'. Our patient takes matters into her own hands and does what she has to do to get herself on the road to recovery.

Directed by Connie McDiarmid, Mrs Andrews was played by Meredith Brophy and in order of appearance here, the supporting cast was Andria Gillespie as Miss Castle, the Head Nurse, Anne Quinn as Della, the Maid, Jan Brown as Miss Manning, the Special Nurse, and Isobel Eastman as Tillie Frisby, a Visitor.
