With only 50 days till we open the gates for the 158th Metcalfe Fair, we thought we'd like to keep you posted with a weekly message.
We'll let you know what's new as we get ready for the Fair, and highlight just some of the fun things in store for the 2014 Fair!
Online Entries
Our online entry system is now up and running. Once you've chosen which classes you're going to enter, it's a simple procedure to click the "Online Entry" button and follow the instructions.
If your 2014 membership is paid, simply enter the information for your classes.
If your membership isn't paid yet, you can pay using PayPal and our system will walk you through that process as well.
You can still enter by mail, fax, or in person at the Fair office. Forms can be downloaded from the website.
Please make note of the entry deadline for the Department(s) you plan to enter.
Hours of Operation
The Fair office hours for the month of August are: Monday 2-8pm; Wednesday & Thursday 9am-3pm; and Saturday 9am-1pm. These will change again after Labour Day weekend, so check the website under Hours of Operation for updates.
The operating hours for the Fair itself are:
Wednesday, October 1st: 7-9 pm - Family Pavilion and Agricultural Hall open to accept 4-H Lifeskills, Homecrafts, Culinary Arts, Flowers, Junior, Group Displays, Produce, Field Crops, and 4-H Field Crops exhibits.
Thursday, October 2nd: 4 pm - Gates and Midway open
Friday, October 3rd: 7 am - Gates Open; 10 am - Exhibit Halls Open; 1 pm - Midway Opens
Saturday, October 4th: 7 am - Gates Open; 10 am - Exhibit Halls Open; 11 am - Midway Opens
Sunday, October 5th: 7 am - Gates Open; 10 am - Exhibit Halls Open; 11 am - Midway Opens
Little Ray's Reptiles
We’re very pleased that Little Ray’s Reptiles will be part of our Kidzland attraction again this year.
Since 1995, Little Ray’s have been offering one of Canada’s most fun and interactive approaches to eco education and zoology. The reptile zoo has the largest and most diverse animal education outreach program in Canada, and has trained zookeepers and zoo facilities on site and off site since its inception.
Their facility is one of a kind in the Ottawa area, and offers a series of dynamic schooland daycare programs, children's birthday parties, and hosting and bookings for corporate events and fairs across Canada for more than 15 years.

Hot Rod, Race, and Classic Car Show
Nothing sparks memories like looking at a car from another phase of your life ... "Wow, my buddy had one just like that when we were in high school!", or "Dad used to pack us all into one just like that - only blue - to go for Sunday drives!"
You too can relive memories at the Metcalfe Fair Hot Rod, Race, and Classic Car Show, set to go on Sunday, October 5th, starting at 8 am at the Grandstand.
If you have a vehicle you'd like to bring and show off, registration starts at 8 am, and goes until noon. There's no entry fee (all participants must pay Fair admission or show a Fair pass at the gate).
