October 1, 2014 by

The midway rides have arrived, the buildings are getting set up, and the grounds are prepped for the 158th Metcalfe Fair!

The office staff is busy counting prize ribbons, taking entries, and just generally getting ready for everything that's going to happen at the Fair. They're also busy greeting folks from the community who are coming in to buy passes and tickets, and they're answering all kinds of questions.

Here are a few quick bits of helpful information:

  • Gates open at 4:00 PM on Thursday
  • Thursday is Toonie Night on the midway, which runs from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Thursday is also Demo Derby night
  • Friday is bracelet day on the midway, bracelets are valid from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Saturday will feature the 4-H Regional Championship Shows
  • Sunday features the Classic Car Show, Truck Pull, and our Fashion Show

For more events, information and times, please check out the Schedule of Events.

Finally, here are the answers to many of the questions we're getting asked in the office these days:

Q: Can I have a booth at the Metcalfe Fair?

A: Sorry, all our vendor spaces are sold out for this year. Please get in touch with us in June if you'd like to apply for a spot at the 2015 Fair.

Q: Where can I get a midway bracelet?

A: Pay-one-price midway bracelets are available on Friday only, and can be bought at the midway ticket booth on Friday when you get to the Fair. Bracelets are valid 1 pm to 11 pm Friday.

Q: What's the deal on pre-sale ride tickets?

A: Sheets of 35 ride tickets for $40 are available at the Fair office and at Scotiabank Findlay Creek till noon on Thursday, October 2nd. After that, tickets are available from the midway ticket booth - sheet of 26 for $40; 16 for $25; or individual tickets for $1.75 each. Rides are a MAXIMUM of 3 tickets each.

Q: Is it too late to register for the Demo Derby?

A: There are still some spots available in both classes, but you should register as soon as possible! Register at the Fair office.

Q: Where can I get weekend passes?

A: At the Fair office; Scotiabank Findlay Creek; Metcalfe Variety Store; and Cooper Physiotherapy Clinic.

Q: Do I have to get Tickets for the OLG Entertainment Centre in advance?

A: We recommend that you get your tickets in advance, because we usually sell out. Tickets for Friday's Sidewinder show ($15), and Saturday's Orangeman show ($20) are available at Scotiabank Findlay Creek and at the Fair office.

If you have a question that we don't answer here, just send us a message and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Come on out and have some great family fun at the Metcalfe Fair - Make it YOUR Fair!
